Concrete Prep Tools.
The Tools You Need To Get The Job Done.
Concrete Prep & Coating Removal Tools.
At Southern Sweepers & Scrubbers, we offer a range of professional-grade concrete prep and coating removal tools designed to handle everything from aggressive industrial material removal to precision surface preparation.

Brush Hammers.
Lavina Bush Hammers are perfect for concrete stripping, cleaning and profiling (CSP 3, 4 and 5). They also work great for prepping floors for epoxy coatings and overlays, thin coating removal and even exposing large aggregates.
- Using Bush hammers produces very little airborne dust, and it doesn’t micro fracture the surface.
- Removal rates from 200 to 2000 sf/hr, depending on the grinder size and thickness of the coating.
- Use bush hammers with low rpms.

PCD Diamond Tools for Coating Removal.
PCD stands for Polycrystalline Diamond. We offer PCDs with or without sacrificial bars and metal button with different level of aggressiveness.
- PCD WITHOUT Sacrificial Bars or Metal Bond Button are very aggressive and will leave a very coarse profile on the concrete underneath. They are suitable for removal of thick mastics and glues, elastomeric membranes, thick parking deck membranes, 30 mils and up epoxy coatings, and any coating with silica sand broadcast mixed in.
- PCD WITH Sacrificial Bars or Metal Bond Button are less aggressive so they do not damage the concrete. The sacrificial bars or the metal button act as a stabilizer and depth guide, and reduce the gauging of the floor caused by the aggressive pcd segments. These tools are suitable for removal of medium to thin mastics or glues, and failing epoxy coatings (30 mils or less).
PCDs are direction specific tools – use the BLACK PCD tools for heads with right rotation, and the BLUE PCD tools for heads with left rotation.
Use PCD tools with LOW RPMs.

Carbide Scrapers.
Lavina Carbide Scrapers quickly and easily remove thick glues, rubbery mastics and elastomeric coatings that bush hammers or metal tools can not remove effectively because they will gum up and smear. Carbide Scrapers won’t damage the concrete underneath, and are ideal for glue removal on floors that will be polished.
- Carbide Scrapers are direction-specific tools – check the heads rotation direction before ordering. Use the Black tools for heads with right rotation (electric Lavina machines except for the 32″ Elite) and the Blue tools for heads with left rotation (propane Lavina machines + 32″ Electric Elite).
- Each scraper tool has a tungsten carbide blade with four work surfaces, and you can replace the carbide blade only – part #CBL-19.
- After using the scrapers and removing the glue, you can continue with Metals, 30 or 50 grit.
- Recommended rpm: 550-650 for electric machines, 1800-2100 for propane machines.
